Sagescence:
A five-session journey for
psychologists and therapists with Kirstin Bouse & Dr Tammy Ben-Shaul
The therapist's sharpest tool is her embodied self.
And yet, so many of us reach midlife feeling fragmented, professionally proficient, personally stretched, and yearning for a deeper sense of alignment.
The decade-long midlife transition is the most transformative rite of passage in a woman’s life. It disrupts, dismantles, and calls forth something profoundly true. This time is not just a hormonal shift, it is a psychological reckoning.
What is this?
This is a container for the powerful, wise midlife psychologist to emerge, not only for her own becoming, but so she can more fully serve her clients, embody her knowing, and lead (quietly or boldly) from the truth of who she is.
Kirstin and Tammy are Clinical Psychologists, each with three decades of experience.
They are stepping forward to offer something our profession needs.
A space for reflective inquiry, designed to honour the midlife transition as a profound psychological rite of passage.
For therapists.
Drawing on what Kirstin and Tammy have lived, studied, and practiced, across clinical psychology, menopause neurobiology, developmental identity work, psychopathology, somatics, and sacred inquiry, they’ve created the space they know is missing. A space where psychologists can explore the deep personal and professional transformation that arises in midlife.
What they’ve gathered over the course of the personal and professional lives is an integration of clinical insight, sacred practice, and lived experience, bridging developmental psychology, menopause neurobiology, identity reformation, the psychopathology that can present during this time, the somatic experiences that support the transition, and the inquiry into the sense of self.
They’ve lived the rupture, questioned their roles, navigated the disorientation, and emerged with a deeper clarity and reverence for this stage as both a personal and professional awakening.
While many practitioners who are not trained in the depths of clinical practice are contributing to the peri-to-postmenopausal space, few within our own profession are stepping into it with the psychological depth, safety, and integrative wisdom this stage requires.
For this kind of work, we need mentors.
From within our profession.
While many practitioners who are not trained in the depths of clinical practice are contributing to the peri-to-postmenopausal space, few within our own profession are stepping into it with the psychological depth, safety, and integrative wisdom this stage requires and which we possess.
What if I get to want more?
What if it’s ok to WANT what I want?
This five-session mentoring circle is an experiential training for those who want to broaden their understanding of midlife psychology, deepen their reflective practice, and honour the sacred developmental transition known as Sagescence.
Join us in forging a new path, one where mental health professionals are the leading voice in this space, and where we begin by tending to our own becoming.

FAQ: (Or as I like to call it, the “yeah but...” section)
What if I can’t make the live sessions?
No stress. Every session is recorded and you’ll have access to the replays each week and for 2 weeks on completion of the program.
Is this therapy?
Nope. This isn’t therapy, counselling, or crisis support—and it’s super important that we’re clear on that. The Reflective Inquiry into Sagescence: Empowering the Psychologist Within (The Sagescence Mentoring Program) is a mentoring program for psychologists seeking to intentionally understand, hold sacred and navigate the menopausal transition so she can more fully serve her clients, embody her knowing and lead from the truth of who she is.
Do I get 1:1 access to Kirstin or Tammy?
No. Not as part of this experience. We WILL be contactable should you need to speak with us. However, this is a group experience and has been intentionally created this way. Groups are powerful. We know that and we want you to experience that.
I’m already so busy. What if I can’t keep up?
We get that unexpected situations pop up that mean we can't show up to things we've committed to. But honestly? With the exception of the unexpected, its really important that you attend. In fact, if you KNOW you can't make 2 or more of the sessions, this may not be the best time for you to join us. And we say this because we want you to get THE most out of this experience and missing sessions, will dilute that.
I feel guilty spending money on myself.
Interesting. I have to say that what we see is therapists spending decent money on supervision (about their clients) and professional development (that directly upskills their knowledge and technical skills). We all do that and of course we need to commit to our ongoing professional development. And this might feel a little more about YOU and a little less directly about your clients. And in some ways you're right.
We all know the importance of doing our own work. And because this is such a PROFOUND life stage for you too, we wanted to created something that truly supports you personally and professionally. And yes, it will absolutely help you in your work with women, and particularly women in their perimenopausal years.
How long do I have access to the content?
Given the sacred (and confidential) nature of these sessions, we'll make the recordings available for 7 weeks. That means, you'll have access for the 5 weeks you're engaged in the program AND for 2 weeks after that.
Is this just for 'experienced' psychologists who are in perimenopause or menopause?
This is open to women and AFAB. And no, you don't have to be an 'experienced' psychologist nor perimenopausal or menopausal. Wherever you are at in the life-cycle, if this speaks to you, please join us.
